A Building Emergency Action Plan (BEAP) is a plan to assist departments in preparing for building emergencies. The BEAP includes but is not limited to:
- Campus and building specific emergency communication systems
- List of building safety team members and/or emergency contact lists
- Evacuation/Shelter-in-Place/Lockdown procedures
- Concept of operations for various types of emergency situations (i.e. tornadoes and active threat/shooter)
The BEAP should incorporate any campus units, schools, colleges and/or departments that occupy a specific building. A Building Emergency Action Plan that includes all residents will help facilitate an effective response during an emergency situation. A copy of the building’s BEAP can be requested from the Building’s Safety & Security Representative (BSSR). For more information on the Building Emergency Action Plan and BSSRs.
